  • Potential rock collection site.

New to the area, but looking for a location where someone could collect river stones to scape a 125 tank. Looking at options other than Holey rock since I have done that for years.

ps- if you have say a pile of small to medium granite I might be interested in that too.

Ur best bet is probably going to be to go to some rock yards and look. Not sure i know of a place locally where u can just collect rock.

I've never seen rock around here naturally occurring, maybe up towards Austin or San Antonio

yup, they are granite. they had a lot of nice big pieces. someone told me that they will also cut the rock for you so you have a flat side. not sure if thats true or not

If that is the case then it will be worth a drive from the Katy area to them to get some stone.

prices are the best i have seen though. natural earth products was decent but they jacked up their prices. all the lfs buy the rock from these guys at .14 and then sell it for 3 a lb

I'm sure there are some closer places to get rock in the Katy area. Seems like I pass by a place on HWY 6 north of IH10, and I think there another one on IH10 west of Katy.

I have been to all the ones in katy. They either have the flagstone, white brick type rock or moss rock. No one seems to carry a darker type of rock that looks decent
