  • A few things from around the house.

I have wanted to build a home made wet/dry sump for my 55g for a long time. So I started looking around the house to see what I had to use. Well I have a couple of 10g tanks around. My sons a plumber. So I have lots of PVC and CPVC. All I needed to find was a drip tray and there it was square 2g bucket.
i built the overflow out of 3/4 PVC. and the spray bar from 3/8 CPVC. I built a rack to hold the square bucket up out of the tank. I drilled holes in the bucket to drip water throw. I have an old rio pump. I put it all together and here is what I came up with.

        Very nifty. How's it running?

With the filter media in it. It's not loud at all.
It runs great. I had to put a valve on the return pump. It will run faster then the overflow. But I still get 300gph.

I put the sand in the tank. Pulled the filter apart and cleaned it up. Now the tank will be cycling.
