          mommy, do you smell smoke?
Consider my posts as general information based on personal experiences, and in most cases, far oversimplified. Actual mileage may vary. Don't try this at home. If symptoms persist, contact your physician.

Once the smoke leaves the wires you can never put it back in.

I would be terrified if my husband even tried to do something like what you are doing Ken! This is the guy who put in a strip of lights in the bathroom, turned the electricity back on and we had a fireworks show! Ha!

You must be a pretty handy guy, or you have a very brave wife!

                  Looking Good!!!

I am looking at buying a house which has a 8X8 study that shares a wall with the den!!! I will have to get some pointers from you on the in wall tank. Though it may take me years to convince my wife to let me tear a hole in the wall of her new house.LOL

looks like a major project and a little extreme for my handyman skills but one day, one day i will be the master of those skills at least enough to attemp that kinda of trick.

                      Re: 150gal In-Wall Aquarium

I don't think I get it... So you're making the cove look like just a wall and the only hole is going to be the tank right? How deep is your cove? Are you going to be able to get between the back wall (the one shared by your bedroom) and the tank? Or are you only going to have 36" of access for a 72" long tank. Also what if you spring a leak? Are you going to have to knock out drywall to get the tank out of there if you need to? Geez, some of these sound rude, but I really really don't mean for them to be. And how are you going to handle the humidity in that small of a space? Or is that not as big of an issue as I'm thinking it will be?

                        Re: 150gal In-Wall Aquarium

There will be a door on the back wall from which I'll be able to access the tank. I'll have about 11in behind the tank that I can scoot around in and about 2ft on either side. Most of what I'll need to do can be done from right at the door opening. The picture frame type hole where you'll view the tank from the front will be about an inch bigger than the tank on all sides. I'll slide the tank in and out through that. Of course, to get it out I'll have to remove some moulding which I'll use for the "picutre frame", but that's no big deal and hopefully it will be an extremely rare occurance. As for the humidity, There are going to be two small cubby holes above and to the side of the tank for a/v equipment. In those holes/shelves I'll have vents with small computer type fans blowing air out of the little room which will be replenished by air from the bedroom that will flow under the door.

Those aren't rude questions at all. All very valid points.

I still haven't decided how i'm going to do an auto top-off system because I'm not going to have a sump, so I still need to work that out. I haven't given it much thought yet though.

Right now, I'm planning on making it a tang/malawai tank, but I haven't really decided yet. If I do go that route, I'm going to build it up slowly and have mostly brilliant or unusuals. I currently have a bunch of common types, but I've decided not to move them over, so I'm going to have some nice but common fish for sale/trade in a month or so.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.  When I read back over it, it kinda sounded like I was attacking your plan, but I was just too tired to try to figure out a better way to word my ideas.
