    Re: Texas Holey Rock

Out of curiousity, I was wondering how many people are planning on going. I will bring several coolers - with ice and some water. I also have a shovel that  I can bring. David (Tiapan) is coming ... and I am pretty sure he will have a sledgehammer.  Jerry (jbicb3) was talking about coming as well. I don't know how many more from the Houston Tropheus and Petrochomis Club are coming...

I couldn't find a wheelbarrow anywhere but James (BigJames) said he might have one. If I can't get ahold of that one, I may bring an old wagon from when I was a kid. I figure it is better than nothing...

Does anyone out there have a wheelbarrow that I can borrow this weekend??
    Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

        Re: Texas Holey Rock

So far the Tropheus club has just myself coming.  Many of the members in the club already have large amounts of Limestone, and are not in need.

I am going to get some more pieces for a tank I am about to set up.

I am going to bring a sledgehammer and possibly wheelbarrow, for pickup tomorrow.  I will know tomorrow about the wheelbarrow.

watson0720 has said he wants to meet us in Burnet.

I also know of (1) other that I am waiting a reply back on.

So far looks like about 5-6 of us total.

Not every piece is going to be show quality, but many will have holes in it, and some will be huge pieces flat, and some will be huge boulders.

I will have a regular cap truck, so I can take one person with me, should they be looking to carpool.

Sounds like a fun trip... hate to rain on your parade.. but it might be cheaper just to buy a few hundred pounds from a couple of local landscape/garden supply places that i know. They both sell it for 10 cents a lb... and both places have a couple pallets of BIG pieces...

Okay just so people want to know...we are meeting in Burnet at the Phillips 66 Gas Station that is on 281 South.

Basically we will enter town on 29 and then turn left onto 281 South.  Then go down several lights till we get the Phillips 66 Gas Station.

We plan to be there around 11:30AM.

Its not just a trip its a adventure!

I will be bringing wheel barrow, sledge hammer, pick, and shovel.

No promises on awesome museum pieces, but you get to pick all you want.

I had a blast and got a decent sunburn on my neck (ikow i know should have worn sunblock) anyway i think it was really cool finding the rock instead of just buying it, plus Geoff's aunts sister was very nice to us. oh and sorry to Ken but a piece te size you were looking for (that deep) would have weighed a whole lot more then we were willing to move because these were not hollowed out pieces they were fairly solid. Bt we did grab a couple of bigs ones for you all the same.

I got enough rock for my next Project, and then some.  I will try and post some pics of the rock I collected.

It was a fun adventure, and I really enjoyed meeting the both of you.

I hope you guys had a good time in Austin. Did you make it to RiverCity Aquatics?

Anyhow...the trip took us about 3.5 hrs to get to Burnet.  Then about another 10 to get to Tina's house.  When we got there, it was like WOW! limestone heaven.

I hope that you guys can get those shots from your phone and post the pics of the piles.

                                Take care,
