yea it was fun.i got the smallest back yard known to man. don,t really want to breed mosquitos. but i guess if i put a pump in the water.movement will keep them away like the ponds. i'm going to do both. the lights in the cooler will stay on 24 hrs.

Just throw 4-5 guppies in.  They'll take care of any mosquitos and you'll never have to feed them.  Let me know if you need some, I have tons of guppies, both wild and fancy.   :)

set up algae maker yesterday. 2 24" t-8 cool white under counter flouresent fixtures. filled 75 qt cooler1/2 way up with tank water. 5 cups white ciclidfan sand, 1 small pond pump. added rocks. left on all night. checked in the morning. here are my results.  PEW! THIS WATER STINKS!  smells like a fish died in there 1 week ago. must be to hot. to sealed. needs a fan or to be vented. it smells like a very dirty ehiem that was disconnected and opened up 3 wks later.

i am going to call this experiment a failure and a waste of electricity. looks like a pond and guppies is the way to go.
