Thought some might be interested. The good news is I did not use it on aquariums.
I bought 3 tubes of GE Silicone ll (the best one), I used 2 tubes and have the third; batch #07M111 ( I guess they were all the same batch). "Use by " date 11/09.
After 2 months "cure" the worst areas are like peanut butter (in consistancy, not taste). About 1/3 is about like chewing gum. Where it hardened it can be pulled off (of Lexan) in 2 ft lengths with no effort. I have always used only GE silicone , as they invented it I guessed they knew how to make it. GE is selling their plastic division, but I am sure this was manufactured before any change.
In future, when I open a new tube, I will put a sample on/between scrap glass and test it in a few days.
Does anyone have experience (good) with another brand of Silicone RTV ?
