maybe not but the egg crate kind of locks the flow from the bottom. but since it's below the water line it does not matter. i would drill 7 or 8 1/2 holes 1" above bottom for flow. but you don't have to water will find it's way.

I have holes around the outside of the bucket and on the bottom of the bucket. I can take better pictures if you want me to.

Forgot to ask : Is there a special glue that you used once you got it all set up? All I know about is Elmers. And I know that's not right. :P

Took me long enough but I finally found it.

'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

that plastic peg board cuts like butter. use a pan or plate for templete.  jigsaw. just make sure it fits kind of tight. it will spread the drip.

Re: DIY Wet/Dry Filter - Suggestions?

Ok made my first trip to lowe's. I got the pvc cement (rain-r-shine). It's what the chart said I needed. Is this the right stuff?

Also I couldn't find a hose big enough to go over the pipe. And when I asked the guy at lowe's where I could find a bulkhead he didn't know what I was talking about. I asked him about thin wall pvc pipe, he said they only had it in the sewage style 4" pipe. I asked about corrugated hose, he said they don't sell anything like that.   Now I realize I am a woman in the plumbing department but I even had pictures to show them just in case I was asking for the wrong things and still the man could not help me. He could talk on the phone really good.  :chatterbox:

So here I am asking you guys & gals where do I find bulkheads in lowe's or home depot?

I scored this wet/dry contraption at the auction.

All that is needed is a bulkhead and drop the whole thing into a 10-20g and whammo! Wet/dry!

Re: DIY Wet/Dry Filter - Suggestions?

It's a low pressure application so just about any PVC cement will work.
After you cement 2 pieces together wait a minute and try to pull them apart.
If you can pull them apart then toss the cement out & get the red can.

Lowes is a little bit screwey
I know I had to go the the plumbing department to get silver solder for soldering circuit boards....
for thinwall pvc bulkhead fittings try the electrical section.

I always let my fingers do the walking for that last hard to find part.
For the hose, you may need to check the yellow pages for a plumbing or landscaping supply wholesaler.
They should have thin wall PVC pipe and fittings also.
Any auto parts store sould have stainless steel hose clamps.

Rather than drive to Houston for parts, I would use the internet.
