John are you concerned that the pea hole going to the bio wheels will over time stop up?? Since there is only one I think that it would, either way the bio wheels will still get wet from water flowing through your filter media, I guess you could clean the hole out every time you changed the media.

na hole is bigger than spray bar holes. might have to clean twice a year. time will tell. spray bars clog monthly.

As long as the biowheel is wet , it should still be aerating the water that passes through.

I seen this thing in person... great mod!

Like phung said... as long as it's moist it will be good... also the fins on the bio-wheel is like always in contact with the water flowing so that's more then efficient.

great idea!  the more water the better. you are moving more water with the same size pump.  most of us would pay to upgrade  a pump. good work. i would like a few pics of that wet dry you made from the tub and drawer.

So your making a Penguin 300 out of an Emporer 400 , but with higher flow?
Reguarding the filter pad replacement; I use Wal-Mart quilt padding in a refillabe holder in my 280s 300s and 400s.

yup Walmart quilt batting. In the future it will be Michaels or hobby Lobby. walmart is closing down their cloth departments.

I noticed the quilt batting and floss is made by a company that makes our carpet cushion. ER Carpenter. We have a account with them. I will have to call the rep monday and see if he can get us a deal on this stuff.
