Re: new & improved carbon filter
will do the paragraph I just typed disapeared. If yall knew how  slow I type you wuold understand why it PMO. anyway my chlorine out of the filter tested 0.2 free & 0.3 total so I still have chlorine. the problem is the flow rate was to fast. my tap water last time I tested was 2.0 free & 3.2 total. So the filter remove 90%. I will still have to use the double double to polish. another problem is the cheap pelletized carbon. should have spent a little more on granulated. but over all I am happy to refill twice as quick. he's back so we are working on pics.200

Re: new & improved carbon filter
can't get enough pressure out of the rubbermaid to push the water through the doubles. It keeps blowing the seal. the threads and the lid on this thing are weak. so I will have to just run it a lot slower to remove all chlorine also next one will be narrower and taller for more contact.200

Re: new & improved carbon filter
to help the thing take more pressure try getting some ratchet straps and putting them on it so they make an X on the top and bottom, and then ratcheting them down a bit, but probably not too tight or they might deform the plastic.

Re: new & improved carbon filter
For your next attempt.....
Look in the used drum lot for a 30 gallon food grade drum with threaded bung holes.....
should be able to hold the pressure.
If not, you'll just have to go to a SS beer keg Â
Invite the gang over to empty it.'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

Re: new & improved carbon filter
PP are you talking about those blue drums with the threaded tops? that should work good. THFL- after doing this for the last year I don't understand why everyone doesn't do it. the chlorine levels in these water plant verys greatly. mistakes happen. if one of these accidents happens when you are doing a water change your fish will die. if you run your replacement water thru carbon you don't have to worry.200

Re: new & improved carbon filter
Your seals are going tobust because they cannot withstand the pressure.
Slow your water down so the carbon have time to react with the water. Also place the following items starting at the bottom filter floss - carbon - filter floss- carbon- filter floss
