We picked up a pair of rather uncommon borleyi a few months back at one of the auctions, and had them in a 29G. A few weeks ago the female finally turned up holding, so I moved her to a 10G tank I use for that purpose. The next day she was dead of unknown causes. I took her out and noticed a few eggs on the bottom of the tank, but didn't think anything of it, as I don't have a tumbler. I think that was probably two to three weeks ago. Last week the male up and died, maybe he missed his mate.

The 10G has been running with a sponge filter ever since, and yesterday we looked in there and noticed three fry! I have to say, rather unexpected, as I just assumed that the eggs needed to be incubated in the mother's mouth in order to hatch. I guess they've been living on whatever bits may be on the bottom of the tank, as I have no earthly idea how old they are.

    What a pleasant surprise!

Heh, they're so small right now you can barely see them. They'll need to get a bit bigger to be photographed.

Truth is the cement that holds the bricks and stones of a sane and civilized society together. Remove the former and the latter will crumble.
