  • German Rams

Came in today, and found this little surprise!

For now I'm just going to let things run their course.
Once they get big enough I'll put them in a different tank. The parents are super protective and I am actually more worried about the other fish than the babies.

Nice . . . congrats on the fry!
        Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

didn't do anything. CO2 planted tank, fed them once a day with NLS thera-A.

They all got eaten. I have the small QT tank setup with saltwater now, so I didn't have anywhere to put them. If it happens again, I'll hopefully be able to pull them out and keep them happy.

Awww.. shucks. Yeah I have never been able to parent raise rams. I'd always have to pull the eggs out otherwise they'll get eaten.

What is the pH of your tank? Make sure that the nursery tank has the same pH as well.
In my experience German Ram fry are very short lived in water that is too alkaline (i.e galleria tapwater at pH 7.8).
Your CO2 may be lowering your pH enough for them to get comfortable enough to breed.

                  Good luck!
