  • Live foods??

Figured the best people to ask would be breeders so the breeding section fit the bill.

Anyone know where to get superworms or blackworms locally?

There's a vendor on MFK that sells flash frozen blackworms for a decent price for members.

      Min order is like 7lbs.

this is where I am confused. Are frozen worms dead or alive?

they are frozen aquatic black worms or at least their farm/site shows them to be.

I figure it would be the next viable option to have on hand for my fish.

superworms are zophobas morio and are a terrestrial beetle larvae sometimes also called super mealworms. blackworms are a species of lumbriculus terrestrial worm which is closely related to the common earthworm. the later can live in water for a short period of time but does have lungs and will eventually drown. both are super nutritious foods with high crude protein to fat ratios. flash frozen is probably via liquid nitrogen and they wont be waking up again unlike a crayfish in your freezer might. you can sometimes find these at bait shops locally but they will be devoid of nutrition (raised on potatoes and such) and should be gut loaded

thanks for the links EK, i need to get off lazy mode and get some live food cultures going other than the mosquito larvae / water flea aquarium outside. i started that one a week ago and realized that i had forgotten how much the smaller tetras wig out over little creepy crawlies. i guess i got burned out on springtails and FFF for all those dang froglets years ago...i decided i would never again own frogs that cant eat pinhead crickets that i could buy by the crate lol

So these black worms are aquatic. Lumbriculus variegatus is the name I found for them.
