i was under the impression that they had lungs due to requiring shallow well aeriated water...turns out thats wrong. they breathe through their skin. not sure if that would make them aquatic though.

So no one knows where to get other live foods in a good size bulk locally?

something more cost effective than the tiny tubs of superworms/earthworms
      700g Mini-Monster tank

I know Houston Aquatics occasionally has live Blackworms. I have read they can get established in some planted tank substrates, though I have never successfully accomplished that. I'd certainly like to give it a shot and seed some tanks and see if they'll actually survive and accomplish another task... Here is a thread over at MFK

I fed live blackworms to my fish for several years while I was keeping discus. They don't drown... they can pull oxygen out of the water through their skin. I recently gave quoc a 36 bowfront that hadn't had live blackworms fed to it in over a year. When they started pulling the plants his buddy yelled, "Hey! There's worms in this tank!" They were still alive and growing in several tanks.

I was buying my live blackworms from Jungle Jim's in LaMarque. He was getting them from Robert's Tropicals.

Nope, just dropped 'em in for the fish to eat and some got away under the substrate in established themselves.

I am looking to order bulk, I imagine the fish I have would take down a few ounces of blackworm a day and maybe a handful of super worms.
