  • Guianacara Stergiosi has the baby eggs!

The pair I intended to keep has surprised me this morning with a batch of eggs!

No special breeding equipment used, just clean water and good food and they did the rest!
Just shut down a tank but think I will be setting it back up... once again to raise the fry!

fish are so creative. I would guess they prefer to spawn in a cave? and it looks like they used the corner of the tank, sort of cave like. Nice surprise!

There's nothing in the tank other than filter equipment and sand so they made due with what was given.

Not the first time I've seen egg layers use the glass but those were covicts

Nice guess the fish had other ideas of what you are going to do with the tank...

                    Sorry for the late reply...

Tank is trying to get to 80 but highest it gets is 79 with temps dropping to about 77 during water changes.
Been feeding lots of Omega shrimp pellets/NLS Thera+A/Ken's Premium VeggieFlaks.

Think there was a water change involved before they spawned.

To update, I think they hatched and they got sucked into the filter seeing as though the eggs were right next to the intake. Either that or one of the other fish devoured them.

No biggie as I wasn't planning on breeding them and while the eggs were present they got super feisty, chasing my black bars that are like 10x bigger than them as well as punking my Altifrons.

Nice. My dollars are getting chased like nobody's business these days so I'm hoping to see some eggs soon myself!
