The IBC only lets you show bettas that you spawned and raised yourself.
These I purchased to use for breeders and next fall I hope to enter their fry.
The red females I have on order have beautiful fins with no fringes, butterfly or marbleing.
In the past I have had red bettas from marble parents and the next generation was about 80% red with a few butterflys and 2 marbles.
Thats the trouble with buying fish from strangers, you don't know what recessive genes they carry until you spawn them
It has been my experience that if you breed a crown tail with a normal tailed betta, that the fry will be mostly normal with a few showing fringes
My guess is that it takes a combination of 2 or 3 genes to make a good crowntail.
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'
