Keeping the fry tanks clean

I have had a problem that the bottoms of the fry tanks accumulate debris and it can be difficult to siphon the debris without sucking up a few fry. So I put a few clown plecos in 3 of the fry tanks. Well, those guys are no fun at all! They don't move much and aren't much help in keeping the tank clear of debris. Then I threw a few albino aneus into the tanks. They had the tanks clean in a very short time. I am now sold on corys as a fry tank cleaning tool. So if anybody has about 20 or so corys for sale please let me know.

Is the debris leftover food or is it waste?

Mostly food, but dust that settles in the tanks also.

Gotcha. Cories and other cats will help with the food, but unfortunately I've yet to find a fish that eats waste. My Synos do try to eat the waste, then spit it out, which helps my filters pick it up easier

Yes, cory or any bottom feeders would help stir up the debris to get them into the filter. I have some clown loach and really like them.

nothing i know actually does anything about waste....but cories are probably the best bet for fry. they are docile and very small mouthed. no threat to eating them really

I get what looks like dust bunnies except it is in water and I have seen tiny fry get caught in it. The Cory's and I guess any similar fish will at least break it up like you said. I will get some clown loaches too.

What size is the fry tank? I think Cories are the best fry option tank due to size and temperament. Loaches are bound to outgrow just about any tank you put them in, in due time of course. Got any pics of the dust bunnies? I'm curious to see, almost sounds like a fungus

I know what is going on. Each spawn will have some unfertilized eggs and they are growing fungus. I use methylene blue but do water changes after the fry hatch until there is no blue left. That gives the bad eggs the opportunity to grow fungus. Maybe I need to leave the methylene blue in the tank a little longer.

And, any fry that die will add to the fungus.

Clown Pleco's L206 are wood eaters. they like to fresh vegetables. Not to good with fry food. But cory's are great little fish.
