        Breeding is instinct but to care for and raise young is not. Some fish lay their eggs and swim away never seeing them again. Others care for their young. That is what I am saying is not instinct.

            Okay gotcha. Fortunately, I have not seen my fish do that: abandon the eggs or their young. However, I think they snack on the fry once in a while if they are hungry.

              I heard that these guys will do that, which is why I almost didn't get them. They are just so pretty! I took a chance on them, since I also heard they are very fragile and can die quickly.

                They laid eggs again, and this time they definitely look fertile, I'm trying to figure out how to post pics thru my phone so y'all can see
