I had noticed that a pair of my Leleupi seemed to be hanging out together. Well, I guess they paired off. I noticed one of them staying in a cave. So, I shined a flashlight in the cave and low and behold I see lots of tiny tails wiggling. These are in a community Tanganyika tank. Question: should I remove the cave and separate them, either with or without the parents or leave them in the community tank? I have Brichardi's that have successfully raised fry in this setting. This is the first time I have bred Leleupi's, so any advice will be appreciated.

I recommend letting mom care for the fry for a week then move them out to breeder net. It's best to set up a fry tank and move the fry out by themselves. Congrats!010G Long fin BN grow-out

Thanks, I have several breeder nets and tanks. I also have 2 fry tanks, currently full. I'll play musical tanks with all the little ones this weekend. I think I'll put them in a tank with breeding plecos.

The pleco might eat them. They need their own tank until they reach 3/4".

You can put them in a breeder net until you have a tank for them.

Ok, they now have a 36g all to themselves. Wow, are they small. What should I feed them? I have algae wafer that dissolves into very small sized grains. Also, crushed flakes. Should I get something else? I read freshly hatched brine is good, but it is a big tank for such little fry and brine.300g Discus tank

Yeah, I know. The tank looks empty, since they are all still in the cave. Only real option. I used this tank for fry and my plecos. The fry that were in there were big enough for the grow out tank and the plecos are in a divided portion of the 135g.300g Discus tank
