I got baby,s ..what to do?

May not believe me... but I got a texas chiclid and a blood parrot... who have been buddies for a while... check pevious postings.....  I was doing a water change.. and notices    what I thought to be nats.... but closer look.... what the hell.... I have about 50 baby fish.. and the blood parrott and the texas are running everyone off..... they have been doing this for a while.. I just thought they wanted that end of the tank.....

now what should I do..... the adults are about the size of the palm of your hand..... the babies would fit on the end of a ball point pen... should I get them out... or leave them be?    I have partitioned the other fish off.....    this is too cool.....

Congratulations!!  :)  I remember seeing that post!

I would just leave them with the parents for now.  As small as they are, the parents are going to know best how to handle them.  Good job!

I've heard that too, but we've got some who lay eggs.  Nothing ever comes of them, so maybe they just can't breed with each other??  Maybe the males are sterile?  Just a guess, I have no idea.  apparently yours has it figured out!

I think some parrots are sterile or somewhere along the lines of that.

At one time I had what I thought was a pair.  One of them would lay eggs and they both protected them, but they were always infertile.

I liked them but sold them when I switched over to africans.

Blood Parrots, the male for the most part is sterile.   As far as I recall the only known blood parrots to breed are female bloods with a male something else.  

I am happy to see you having young :)

thanks for all the responses.... big thanks to TXFATCAT... super nice guy...great conversation.... anyway.... I made this divider out of a grating for flouresent lights..... cut to size and wdeged it in/...... layed down a bubble wall... in hopes that the babies would be afraid to pass thru it... we will see... the small tank up top... does not hold them.. they escape... so how.... still got about 50..... and I am watching them.... still got mom & pop in with the babies.... dad likes to get one and roll him around in his mouth and then spit him back out... maybe giving him a bath?   Ummm .. yep I have lost it... LOL   mom is protective actaking me when I gently direct baby food into the cave..... thought you guys would like to see.... 135 gallon.... and again  thanks to everyone .... I am gonna try to make the meeting at mike's friday.. Im joining.... now you will never get rid of me... LOL.....

Nice setup :)  sadly the bubbles will only scare them away for a while.. then they go play in it :)
The parents will protect them for at least the next 4-6 weeks
Then they might want to make more and will find the young a nuisense :)
