    Re: Mrs. Bumblebee

Sorry to hear that.  :(  Maybe next time. My bumblebee is holding again. I lost the last batch of fry to hungry mouths. Maybe my next batch will have smarter fry.

If Mrs bumblebee got chased a lot she might stop holding.  My mother bumblebee can hold more than 4 weeks and she only released one fry or two at a time.  I think she took her time "talking" to her frys how to stay away from hungry mouths and where to hide.  So far the survival rate of the bumblebee is ranked number one.

hey CF wait awhile though.  sometimes i think my fish are holding and then there not and then like 1 month later i find tiny babys hiding.  so wait.  do siphon gravel yet.  sometimes, they let them loose and htey go under the gravel and anything.  can hide anywhere.

Another thing is that in a large fish you can see when she is holding in the start and then it looks like she is not holding and that is because the eggs hatch and the egg yolk becomes less in size and she can hold them better.  After a while her mouth will start to widen again as the young grows in size

that was like 4 cents.  good point.  ive seen that in mine before now to think about it.  my lab was holding then wasnt and then few days or so later holding again.  then babys seen later on.  that would be good explanation.
