feeding fiddler crabs

i was thinking about getting some fidler crabs, breeding them and using there babies as food or more breeders what are yalls thoughts on the idea?

I read that fiddler crab babies don't live in aquariums because they eat things that are only found in the ocean.

I met an old man that fished in Galveston. He used fiddler crabs for bait. He said that he raised then in a bucket using bread as food. He stated that the crabs eat the bacteria or fungus/mold that grew on the bread. The bread was the medium that the bacteria or fungus/mold used as a food source.

fishrus had some $80 crabs, fw, they were about 4" and were like SUPER BRIGHT ORANGEish RED. awesome looking.

I grew up in Galveston and we used to catch more than enough.....

They make great bait for Sheephead.

The old man raised/ bred them and then kept them alive. I think that he fished several times a week. He used a cane pole string fishing line and a hook with a fiddler crab attached. He caught a lot of Sheepheads even when no one was catching anything with his cane pole with a string tied to the end. He would put the Sheepshead in a burlap bag, bait his hook and move on down the rock groin. He did say that you have to change the water occasionally in the bucket to keep the fiddler crabs going. sunrise
