  • ? about my 125g

    i have a ? about my 125g tank.

i removed the trim on my 125g tank, just on top, it still has the glass middle brace.
i want to know, can i still use it as an aquarium if it doesnt have the top trim?
will it still be safe to fill it like normal?

i would put it back on or build one out of wood just to be safe.

Dan has removed the trim on a 5ft 110 in the front of the store. The glass has bowed some...but it still holds water and has no leaks. I believe its been setup for about a year now.

yeah, i had the trim removed on both of my 75g tanks with no problem.

the trim is not the molded 1 piece trim, its the 4 sepereate piece trim tha is just siliconed to the tank.
the glass middle brace is not affected what so ever by not having the trim.

so i figured it would be ok.

i will cal dan and see what he says.

yeah, i just called, i forgot he was out, but traci was there, and she said as long as the silicone is in good shape, it should be fine, she was like how much support is the trim really giving, and she said im sure not much.
and this is what i figured. thanx everyone:)

The glass center brace is what's truly holding the front and back panes together. The trim is strictly decorative in your case.

sweet, thats what i figured when i removed the trim and saw the glass middle brace.
its structural integrity wasnt comprimised at all, so i figured it would be ok, i just wanted some second opinions to rule out anything i might have missed.
