Good pics, yep, you're the proud owner of yellow labs! Now's the time to start planning that cichlid tank you're going to need.Reasoning with some people is like trying to nail jello to a wall...

oh bollocks! Another tank! No...I must shuffle them around....
So I got 5 but they are so small I can only find 2 in the tank. Interestingly they get bullied by my baby rams who are only a tad bigger! So how big a tank for two of them?

Re: Help me identify this fish - NOW with Pix!
Wiki says:
"Electric yellows are peaceful compared to most other African cichlids. Despite this, like all cichlids from Lake Malawi they are best kept in specialist cichlid aquariums. When kept with freshwater community aquarium species such Zebra Danios or Neon Tetras, they may nip the finnage of other species, and are not recommended for freshwater community aquariums. In an aquarium setting, their natural habitat of rocks and caves should be emulated. Their diet should consists mostly of prepared cichlid pellets or flakes, with supplemented with foods like krill, brineshrimp, spirulina flake, and veggies. A healthy diet and carotene rich foods like krill and spirulina will help your fish, in good lighting, to appear neon-like (hence the name "electric yellow").

Fin nippage? Is that real or does it really mean "devour"? My tnak is a 150g I wonder what will happen?

I'll bet the other three are there, they can hide really well. I've got three that were spit in my 75 gallon amongst four inch frontosas and they managed to find places to hide and survive. They will be about 4" when fully grown. For now if you have a spare 10 gallon that would work for a few months until they get bigger.
I like the idea of another large species tank  , surely you can find just a little more space.Reasoning with some people is like trying to nail jello to a wall...

Re: Help me identify this fish - NOW with Pix!
Like any cichlid they become very territorial, especially when trying to spawn. I've never seen mine attack another fis with the intent to kill, but then they aren't in a community tank. As long as there is plenty of spots for them to lay claim to they may be okay in a tank the size of yours, but I wouldn't recommend it. What are their co-inhabitants?Reasoning with some people is like trying to nail jello to a wall...
