i was wondering what most people use as their filter media, after going through various phases over the years, i have finally decided that good old sponge is the best filter media (for me at least), so for my tanks i only use sponge (for both canister and hob) - basically fill out all the space within the filter with sponge, no carbon, no ceramic chips, nothing else and it works just fine for me

    what do you use?
    65 gallon - ADA 120p - planted
55 gallon - AGA standard - mix cichlid
    30 gallon tall - eclipse acrylic - semi-planted

I use this blue and white stuff that you can get from the air filter places.
Fish are people too, they just have gills.

It depends on the filter; in my canisters I use the rings and substrat that came with the Eheim 2117 kits, with sponges on the intakes. In my HOBs I use AC sponges in all of them.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.
