well my first one was a little small...so I scrapped that one and built this one today. I built everything except the wet dry below it..
the tank size is 30x 17x 48 the water depth will be 12" has a internal over flow . I also built side supports for extra strenght. I welded small pieces to the bottom with holes in them to tie off fake and real plants.. I also created barriers on the bottom so I can seperate gravel, sand and ADA dirt. there is also raised barriers for holding more dirt to plant live plants into...... I just need fishladys approval to do a water test..... Cope

              Using the following measurements.
48 x 30 x 17 (Width, depth, height) your volume is approximately 24480 cubic inches or 105.97 U.S. gallons, which is approximately 412.24 liters.
48 x 30 x 12 (Width, depth, height) your volume is approximately 17280 cubic inches or 74.81 U.S. gallons, which is approximately 290.99 liters.

Cope If the bottom is acrylic, MAKE very sure that the whole tank is supported on the bottom, not just the edges. Glass can handle just just the edges.

You have made a beautiful looking tank.
How big is the sump ?

the bottom is supported very good... I have2x4 spaced 8.5 inches apart and the bottom is 1/2" plywood... and then the tank sits on all that... I built the stand and did the jump around on toptest.... I know.. look like an idiot but you got to make sure..LOL I am pretty sure I have over built both tank and stand... that is what the Test is for...... the sump....not sure the volum size....but it is like 24 x 12 and it has a bio ball tower..... the fun part is testing it to see if indeed it holds water and does not bow or split.... I have use 1/4" cast acrylic..... I saw oneon you tube that was 8'x4' x17" and it lookedto be made from 1/4" material... the key was the side struts to make it rigid.... we will keep you posted..thanks for the comments....

Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

To me what I see is an awesome Shell dweller and sand sifter tank. Lots of bottom space and lots of space for bottom feeders...

Use weldon 50 for the leaks.
Also when glueing you need to have pressure on it so the glue will set better.
The smoother the edges are the better the glue will hold.
