Re: Quarantine: a little survey...
I just looked everywhere on my chemical bottles and there is no expiration date anywhere. I went on the aquarium pharmaceuticals website and wasn't able to find any helpful info. I sent an email to them to see if they could help me figure out if they were any good. I looked around online and basically realized that the aquarium pharmaceuticals have a short life so I would be pretty comfortable saying they are expired. I know where the ich came from. I had a few feeders (rosy) in my new tank that acted fine for about two weeks and once my ammonia started dropping I dumped them in the other tank and added a few tetras to the new tank to finish up the cycling. Those fish must have had ich because both tanks ended up having the ich. I only have one of those guys left, a fast little bugger I've given up trying to catch. I will now admit this might not have been the wisest thing I've ever done but since I haven't had any trouble in a long time I guess I was overconfident in my fishkeeping abilities. Nothing like a mini-disaster to put you back in your place. It goes to show you can never know everything about fish (or anything for that matter).
I hope with my new quaranine tank and soon to be new test kit this will be the last of my tank woes.
