What's in a (fish) name?

Orandaman inspired me to start this thread. He posted the name of his Black Moor and it made me want to know the cool or interesting names you've given your fish. I'll start.

Giraffe Catfish #1 = Hoover (like the vacuum cleaner brand)
Giraffe Catfish #2 = Junior (he was smaller than Hoover)
Flagtail Prochilodus #1 = Dexter (short for Poindexter, because, to me, he looks like the main nerd from Revenge of the Nerds)

Flagtail Prochilodus #2 = Mini-Dex (everywhere Dexter went, Mini-Dex was right there. So instead of Dexter having a 'Mini-Me', he had a 'Mini-Dex')
Fahaka Puffer #1 = Beaker (from the muppets)
Fahaka Puffer #2 = Homer (from the Simpsons...he's big and yellow and I swear he says 'Mmmm...clams'.)
Golden Puffer #1 = Choppers (he is constantly showing off his teeth)
Golden Puffer #2 = Thumper (has a gap between his teeth, making them look like rabbit teeth)
The Godfather = Frontosa (was the largest in a colony of Fronts we got and can't be with other fronts without trying to kill them)
Jay = Blood Parrot (used to be 'Jay and Silent Bob', but Silent Bob passed a while back)
Mulder = Koi (he's white, so we were going to call him Spooky, which changed to Mulder. X-Files fans will get this one)
Di = Royal Pleco (as in Princess Di)

I have named a few of my fish...

Angels names based on how they look....Dotty, Stripy, Goldie, etc...

Electric blue rams, Blue and Sue...

Gold rams, Spike and Ike...

German rams, Thelma and Louise

I also decided to name 2 of my cardinals...Carl and Noel. Get it? lol

I generally don't either, but my coworkers have named some of the guys at work.
Blindey: a blind lionhead goldfish
Great White: A large dominant shubunkin goldfish, mostly white in color. He thinks he's a cichlid. He attacks the magnetic algae scraper when in use.
Crusty: A big red swamp crawfish I got from Taipan
Pinchy (the second): An Australian red claw crawfish

Ditto. I once named a fish after a dear friend. He was a betta I had named Henry. It was sad to tell his namesake that Henry had died.

So now my fish are called hungry, excited, and sure you're glad to see me (you want my food).

The kids in my house has named a few of the fish.
1. The first betta in the house was named princess. Reason "because a it was a girl" (personally I am thinking that it was because Lexi is a girl and everything she names is a girls name -- PS. it was a Male Betta, we are now on the second one and I dont remember what she named it)
2. Puff-ball.. name given to my female Tropheus sp red Kiku female because she has a tumor that make her have the biggest abdoman you have ever seen..

Lexi has not named anyone else.. but when she got her hermit crabs for her b-day she named the one with the painted shell "sponge bob" because its painted in sponge bob's colors.

Fishlady and I have had several fish that we have given names too....sadly, most of them are all gone now with the exception of a single albino red tailed shark named Bart, and a few others...

You may remember we had a Jardini in the 210 back in my old warehouse named Jumpin Joey....I named him that because he liked to jump at his food....There was a beautiful Green Terror we had named Mr. GreenJeans, who now lives with Roy and Heidi.....There is a gorgeous frontosa I liked named Bernie who now lives with another box member.....Flipper....the list goes on and on.....Pete and Repete, two large and lovely Oscars, also with another box member.

We had Kisses, a chocolate cichlid who now lives with Happytiffany and her happy hubby, Patrick......

We have Spike in the kitchen, he was given to me by Darbex.....he is a very "spikey" looking Jack Dempsey who got all chewed up when he was young and has hardly any dorsil fin...just a few spikes ....hence the name....We still have the main players from the Cedar Point Gang....

There have been so many others...most of them I've forgotten, but I bet Fishlady can share about a dozen more with you....

and his mate was heidi, after heidi, dont ask me, my mom thought of the name.
my old 13" red devil, named S.I.D.

norman, named norman bates was my old male electric blue jd, he killed 4 blue gene females.
scarface my old D. Compressiceps who had a scared up left side of his face and was missing that eye.
huey my old vieja regani
rocky my old male jack dempsey
craimer my old 12" 4-line pictus, named this beause he always busted into some part of the tank like craimer off sienfeld into a room:)
and last but not least, slash my old satanoperca lecouysticta names so because of his crazy dorsal fin that looked kinda like slash the guitarist.

it was frickin' hilarious!
he had been doing it since he was 4" and first introduced to the tank.
you wouldnt see him, then all of the sudden BAM, there he comes out of a log like, scootin' all over the tank, running into everything and everyone. and after all of the other fish were like he would dissapear again for like 3 hours
