  • Help finding fish

I have a 65g tank that is 3' long. I am looking to restock this tank but i am kind of at a dead end. i moved my trophies out of there because of the aggression and they now stay in the 125 Tang Tank.
Anyway, ultimately i want to put discus in this tank but i dont have that kind of money right now soooooo......

I need suggestions on what to stock this tank with. There are a few small requirements:

    1. They have to be able to live comfortably in a 3ft tank.
    2. They cannot be aggressive
    3. They need to be colorful
    4. They have to be able to eat NLS Thera A pellets cuz i hate having to
buy different foods for different tanks.

Let me know what you come up with.

Try some congo tetras with another tetra type mixed in.

Not sure about them eating Thera A pellets though.

While you don't want agressive I think Barb's in this size tank would look real good. Fish Gallery has had good selections lately.

Rainbowfish, tire-track eels (or something similar), pictus cats, loaches, platies, mollies, and probably swordtails. I'm not a fan of sinking pellets, because many fish do not really like to feed off the bottom, and extra food tends to accumulate in the gravel.

          a group of apistos!

I love those fishes. Had a pair ship to me from Germany but I end up losing the female. If I had a 3 footer I would get 2-3 males and like 10 females.

She bred two time for me and both times they ate the wigglers. Should have this got them out.

Colorful and easy to keep. Cheaper than discus.

Never nice fish. WC onesare decently common but not in town.

Picture might help. This is not my picture but my male looked like this when in showing off mode.

Black water fishes. Love wood and leaves. Some people keep them in planted tanks, but it's not a need.

Give me a second, let me find you a nice link.

Fish Ranch has them also, and I have seen them at Fish Gallery. Both are quite a bit more expensive than dan's and I believe both stores sell them in pairs only...not positive on that though.

Dan's is going to have good stock.

Fish ranch use to have decent stock but it's going a little down to me.

I am gonna go check out both places tomorrow. Hey Randall, if you wanna go give me a call and we'll ride out to Dan's and hit up Fish Ranch on the way home.

I think i'm gonna do a standard SA/CA tank with lots of plants and some good sized rocks. Thanks for the great tip on which kind of fish to get.
