I have stock piled about 50 D cell batteries and I currently have 6 of the "Bubble Box". I do not have a generator but my girlfriend's dad has a couple of them so if need be I will drive out there and pick one up. I just purchased 2--5gallon gas cans. I plan on getting more batteries just in case power is out for almost 2weeks like last time........I think I'm ready.

Well, my apartment overlooks the seawall, so we know where this is going. Not a whole lot to do but hope. If there is any form of hurricane, I'll be evac'ed and wont be allowed to return for at least 2 weeks. Last time I didn't take any form of real damage, just the no power, water, or sewage for a while... I may end up have a super-clearance sale on my fish and offer delivery...

                  Currently 8/16 @ 1:55am
Ana shows a track that shows to hit the New Orleans area but at best a hurricane cat 1 (potentially 2) but most likely at current strength and forcast to be below hurricane force winds when making landfall.

Bill shows a more northern track putting it to hit with a force of cat 2 or 3 in the south carolina, north carolina area. Its current predicted track does not show much of a chance to reach the Gulf Coast area, but rather turn to the north and hit the Atlantic coast of N.America

For now... but who knows.. everything changes every 6 - 12 hours.. so still be wary of what can come

                        I prefer this one

Weather Underground provides information about tropical storms and hurricanes for locations worldwide. Use hurricane tracking maps, 5-day forecasts, computer models and satellite imagery to track storms.
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

I survived Ike with almost 2 weeks without power. Even though my 75g tank was massively overcrowded with fish, I lose just one Torpedo Barb.

I have loaded up on battery operated Penn-Plax B11 air pumps. I had two of these last year, and I was amazed that they ran for over four days with just one set of batteries! I have five of these air pumps now which should be plenty for my two larger tanks.

I got through Ike's power outage by using the air pumps and with constant water changes. That would be my plan again should we lose power for an extended period of time.

I think I should probably go ahead and test all the air pumps to be sure they're working. I'd hate to find out the hard way if any of them aren't working. Time to stock up on batteries, as well.
                              Vicki
