  • Aquatraders.com???

has anybody ever ordered anything from this site before? I want to order some fixtures and bulbs, but dont know if it is a trust worthy site or not. Extreme sells these fixtures but he swears that he pays $80 a piece for them when their website clearly offers them for $39 w/ bulbs! Hopefully I can order tomorrow and the lights will make it here before the Troph Tour this coming weekend.

Honestly, I would only buy stuff online with credit card unless it's a credible merchant like Amazon or Newegg. That way if I don't get what I purchased, I can report it to my credit card company and get a refund.

Aquatraders.com is the website by the now only importer in the US who brings in Odyssea products.. The sad part is because they are in Los Angeles the port of entry for goods are there too. This means they are able to sell it as cheap online as it cost wholesalers other places. This is why they are now the only people in the US who are bringing in Odyssea items. Xtreme have to buy from these people, and sadly his whole sale cost is only pennies less than what they offer it online.

Several businesses who sell their equipment simply stopped because they have been offering their goods at nearly wholesale cost. The only way for businesses in country can compete is to bring in large shipments and still offer their goods at a higher rate than what aquatraders.com offers it at in hopes you dont find these guys online.

There is more to it but thats for another story, another day

I have had crappy service & crappy equipment from them.
I ordered a bak-pak knockoff and it arrived with a large crack down the back side.
I tried to get a refund, but they claim that it was perfect when they shipped it and either it must have been cracked during the shipping process or that i broke it myself!!! Imagine the nerve!!! I never got a refund! And forget about asking a question via their website. Unless you are trying to buy something, they will never reply.

Eventually i patched up the acrylic myself and within a month, the intake tube broke! I swapped out the part for an identical one which i had bought and that broke too!! at the same spot!! I then replaced the replacement with a real bak-pak part and no more problems. I guess i got what i paid for... I'd stay away from them and stick the more established brands.....

            mmostly junk.

There are numerous reports where fixtures caught fire.

I bought one for my Friends birthday 3 years ago, and it makes a crap load of noise compared to equivalent coralife fixture, but it works.
