that would be cool, but could you have more than a pair...i thought they would be very aggressive if more than 1 male or female for that matter, but what do i know, never kept them before.

Once you get it built, tell Peter how much it cost. He will need a home for his 4 emperor cichlids soon enough..

something like Tim's 215 gallon, but 5 times bigger !

I have 5 of these bad boys. They are actually quite mild compared to their tankmates... I guess Chris just worked them up for the vids that he posted Just kidding. My 300 is pretty packed... over 30 trophs and 12 good-sized moshi along with these 5 bad boys. I'm sure that's what's keeping the aggression down. Oh yeah, and I haven't put the rockwork back into the tank yet.

That sounds cool. Btw where did you get the numbers from? Did you just make them up or was there some sort of calculation involved?

I would put crazy filtration on it and grow out 8 Polypterus ansorgii, 8 Polypterus (bichir) bichir, 8 Polypterus (bichir) lapradei, 6 Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri, and 4 Polypterus endlicheri congicus and then let them get monster size. I wouldn't put them in any other tank. The bigger the tank they start out in, the bigger and faster they grow. Also I would hand feed them and breed guppies as feeders.

I'd call it my Lower Jaw Bichir African Pond. :)

Whatever you do it will be awesome but I agree with some of the others a biotope would look great!
