My first day on my new job today and the best feature is this huge tank they have full of beautiful cichlids. To be honest, I'd never paid much attention to cichlids and they didn't catch my interest. I think that's changed. There were a couple of parrots (not sure what I think of those yet) and some others I'm not sure about. It's a beautiful tank. It's disappointing to me that the plants are fake, but they're of enough quality that if you don't pay them much attention (and the fish are certainly beautiful enough to keep your eyes locked), you could be forgiven for thinking them real, if a little too perfect.
Sadly, no one nearby knew a damned thing about it, so I'm going to ask when their fish guy/gal comes in for maintenance and talk to her/him about it when s/he's there. I wonder if I could convince my bosses to let me spend a little time before or after work to get a little experience with a tank of that size and those kinds of fish (with, of course, the agreement of whoever maintains it).
I'll try to get some pictures and video when I can.
