I'm sticking with the female bettas or the Golden Wonders. Just tell your hubby that "colorful" doesn't have to mean "day-glo." :)

If you want to do that.. I would suggest keeping a pair of Kribs -- Pelvicachromis pulcher... they are peaceful in nature.. but I am sure that if a guppy baby comes by.. it might not survive the encounter...
They will live in the tank size you have.. Just remember to put a ton of plants in there.. and a small cave. They will breed for you :) and then hubby will have a completely different problem on his hand :) and then he will be talking to you about the "cute little babies"

            What fish do Jesper have
180 WC T. Moorii Chilambo +1 Petro trewavasae.
            110
Cyps, WC Xeno Spilopterus Kipili WC/F1/F2 T. sp red Kiku

              i aggree with Jesper.
i woulkd either go with the kribs or the dwarf vic mouth brooders, they will breed fairly easilly, and the babies are not hard to sell due to there intense color, small sizee, and community disposition.

But she WANTS to use this tank as a "get-rid-of-culls" tank... Throw all the guppy culls in this tank. I think the killies would absolutely love living in there. Everyone's always comlaining about Golden Wonders eating their fish...let them do it with permission!! :)

also, if they dont end up eating enough babies, then get a small shoal of Synodontis Nigriventis, aka Upside Down Catfish, they come fromt he same area, and will eat fry when the lights go out.
plus they stay very small, around 3"tl.

Let me know if this is streching the limits...killies, tetras, gouramis, an blue rams?

Killies and gouramis would be awesome, or killies and blue rams. I think the killies would bully the tetras, and depending on the type of gourami, those three species might be pushing it - since essentially you're stocking a 15g tank that's got a bit more height to it.

Of course, killies and blue gouramis and a few paradise fish would be pretty darn cool, too.

Native Gulf Coast killies would work too. The males are gold and blue with metallic flecks. The pres of TAKO uses one to get rid of his killie culls.

                              Woohoo! :)

Nick - remember, this is for her husband...although native gulf killies are beautiful in their own way, I don't think he would pick them over a more brightly colored fish. I could be wrong, but that's what I'm thinking. (You know me and Fundulus species - I think they're all gorgeous!) :)
