I would love to get some stocking ideas from all of you.

I have to have 3 clown loaches. I will also occassionally put some guppies in there on an iterim basis. Other than that, I have no specific plans but I am interested in some medium sized fish that are interesting or colorful.

I'm considering eventually doing an all-rainbow tank. If that sounds interesting, there's a group buy being put together and they have some VERY good prices on rainbows.

Rainbows, are a very colorful active fish, and get some nice size as well. They would do great in a 72 with some wood, plants, and a the loaches. Or you could go angels or discus with some assorted tetras...that would be pretty too. And of course there is plenty of different Rift lake fishes with color.....Just depends, but at least here are a few ideas. I would, if I had that tank, opt for angels, tetras, cories, and a couple plecos...with some nice root wood,and various sword and anubious plants....AT least I didn't say GUPPIES!

I would say africans. Lake malawi is a good African starter group

Interesting = pretty, active, quirky, unusual, etc. Most fish don't meet all of these requirments. I am looking to have diversity while maintaining flexibility. I don't want to get "painted into a corner" by selecting a fish that isn't compatible, etc.

Some goldfish meet all of those.

Barbs, or rainbows...easy keepers, color, VERY active, full of attitude(barbs mainly), and come in a bunch of different sizes. Not to mention they usually aren't too spendy.

if price isnt to much of an issue, then i would say go with a group of like 5-7 Roseline Sharks (Puntius Denisoni) Sp?

they are gorgeous, and get to a nice size, and are extrmely active, aswell as a great community fish.
a school of them in a good sized tank is awesome to see.

Mbunas are great IMO for that size tank and are active and run around holey rock.

I think you might be able to show off and grow plants well in a bow front...??

Then you could toss in some really nice colored neons and rasboras...??

Just curious.... what do you mean by "it is already cycled"? Are you saying that filters are coming with the tank?

yup. it is a used tank which is still running.
