Got home today and my angel fish looks like his top lip is pulled way out and stuck over his bottom lip is this possible?It was being protective of its plant and now laying eggs so might have happened during that or is it just holding its mouth that way while it lays eggs?He also sucks his food in real hard and makes a huge pop everytime on the surface could he have injured it that way?

It appears as though it may have been in a fight. I had some angels who fought over areas and one ended up without a bottom light at all by the time I rehomed a few. 55 fw - steatocranus casaurius (20ish)/ tetras/ rainbows/large Jack Dempsey
75 fw - large Jack Dempseys / pictus cat/ yoyo loach/ Red gippicep/ 10+" oscar/ parrotComment

No just one.I took him out and checked his lips and it goes back normal but as soon as he opens his mouth it over extends i guess and stays like that.Looks like when you hold a fish by there lips when you are fishing but doesnt go backComment

If he can't get it back to normal by tomorrow, you might need to try something to help. Lots of times cichlids get their jaw locked. :("Millennium hand and shrimp!"Comment

okay... I understand the pop. When I had angels there were aggressive eaters and made a popping sound as they ate from the surface.
You say his mouth WILL go back to normal but then dislocate again or it is just staying like that? You may just need to gently see if you can maneuver her jaw back into place. I had to do that with a jag once... and they have some serious teeth when they are big lol. But I would give him another couple of hours. It goes back when i pushed it back but as soon as she moves it it pops out and stays out.You can see red lines like veins around her lips like they are stressed or bleeding.She didnt eat becuse only the bottom lip moves and she was woried about her eggs.going to try 2 feed her this afternoonLast edited by a/cwizard; 11-07-2009, 02:49 PM.Comment

Well it keeps popping out.She doent look to good today it was stuck again last night.Have no clue how to help her.Guess she just has a problem with her mouth hopefully it doesnt bother her to bad.Comment

2 day was her day to give up on living.She never recovered from her problem.Makes me sick that i lost her and couldnt do anything about it.I hate feeling so helpless.Comment
