Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.
The first picture of mine. There are a lot of rocks not showing because they're buried under the sand. I did that so they won't shift as the fish move the sand around. I have added some plants and want to add some more rocks, but the basic idea is still there.
About 250 lbs of Texas Holey rock in a 180g 6x2x2 tank. My wc moba colony love the caves and sand bottom. I have 2 large pieces I use as walls. They are about 75 lbs each and sit directly on a cut acrylic piece I siliconed to my glass tank bottom. To be sure they didn't topple over and break my glass, I took the pieces to a granite counter manufacturer and had them cut the bottoms with a masonry saw and make them level. I have 5-6 caves and set my rock bases on the acrylic as well since fronts are great diggers (especially in sand). I placed my flat holey rock pieces on top of the bases and some even overlap one another. I have an open alcove area on the right side of my tank with rock sides and no cave roof. My wc moba mommas will usually flutter around in this area when spawning while the wc alpha moba male hovers above her. When he sees a newly deposited egg he will swoop down to fertilize it. Yeah baby!!!!! LOL This way the male can keep watch over the rest of the colony and chase others away from the spawning area.
I like to keep my caves pretty open so my mobas can enter from the front or back. This way they have an easy escape route when they need it.
Hope this info helps you as well.......onto the pics!!!!!!!!
