Looks ready for some Malawi cichlids to me. Are you just running the one HOB filter? I can't tell what that is next to the HOB.

35g Cube- P. Saulosi, Petrochromis, Sunshine Peacocks
20L Planted- RCS, Ghost Shrimp, Neon Tetras, Snails

With that specific setup, I would say something Malawi. Nothing that gets too big. Never seen a pink stand before, did you paint it like that or did it come pink? If you are going to put Malawi Cichlids in there, you might wanna start shopping around for some more filtration. (an aquaclear 110, Eheim 2217, Rena XP3, small wet/dry)
      If it ain't wild caught
      You ain't doing it right

Its actually a Red stretchable material thats covers the stand. It a emperor 400 filter. I plan on adding another type of filtration. Not sure yet as of which one but if anyone has one for sale pls pm me.

I do have a MarineLand Magnum 350 canister filter that was used in a salt water tank that a friend gave me I just dont know how to set it up

You might also consider painting or covering the back. I think it would really clean up the look.

A black background would help a lot. You can look at http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/ to get some ideas as to what fish you want.

I agree, and its the only reason I didnt post a pic earlier. I plan on upgrading the lighting soon to a t-5 fixture so I didnt want to by some bulbs for the ugly oem hood.

You can make a back ground out if some left over laminate pading. It's for flooring. Everyone is buying laminate today every street has a job of it going in every day. Just ask for the scraps. looks like you need a pc about 4'6"x1'6". It needs to be solid foam not a rebond type. Spray paint it with krylon blue or black. I have done several and it works good. It's cheap too. I wad it up,wrinkle it,even put it in the dryer. So it looks 3-D. Paper will not work to good IMO.
