Does anyone know where I can get one of these? Or any true fresh water eel? And I would like to keep him in a tank with a few mbuna's. I have heard varied responses to this, ranging from "Are you stupid?" to "I've had my eel and mbunas' for.... They're completely fine!"

Wow, I have no idea what a spaghetti eel is. Lol. Any idea of the scientific name, or a more specific name? I just google "spaghetti eel" and got a lot of hits for saltwater and brackish eels, but they're all different kinds, so I'm not sure which one you're talking about. :)"Millennium hand and shrimp!"

I don't know, obviously, but I suspect he's talking about Moringua raitaborua.Vicki

If the fish in question is Moringua raitaborua, they're supposed to be very rare and very shy once in an aquarium, spending most of its time buried in the substrate.
The intriguing Purple Spaghetti-eel is extremely rare, so deserves the best attention we can give it! The Purple Spaghetti Eel Moringua raitaborua is not only rare in the aquarium trade, but this curiosity is also rarely viewed once it’s added to the aquarium. It is very shy so it will keep itself hidden and spend […]
It can probably be housed with mbunas, but I think there would be a conflict in feeding. It needs a diet that is the complete opposite of the needs of mbunas. It's carnivores, requiring protein foods, while mbunas need to be fed a more vegetarian diet.
My biggest concern would be for the mbunas to harass, and perhaps even kill, the eel. At the very least, the eel would probably remain hidden so much that it wouldn't be enjoyed. I suppose it would depend on which mbunas are in the tank as some are more aggressive than others.Vicki
