Your absolutely right...Dave !!! Sometime we as friends..want to type and discuss things like we're standing in front of one another....not realizing that we have to use more discretion due to this being a public forum. But it's all good...no complaints here.

This is just one of the reason why I don't buy fish from LFS anymore. For the most part... I just never feel like the fish are just "healthy".Originally posted by davesolo29 View PostNow...back to the topic at hand. What about the stores that have most of their fish in say 20-30 gallon tanks? They usually have 200-300 1-2 inch fish in each one. That seems cruel to me also. Or the fish feeding frenzys at some stores... or when they bag your fish 10 of them in a really small bag and frown at you when you ask them for a bigger bag or multiple bags.

while i agree about calling out names of stores may not be the best idea, I was with frontosaurusrex at the store with the poor birds and it made me sick to see them like that, I dont know the "politcal" way to get them to fix it, but it is really sad and something needs to wake them up to itI love my baby girl!

I've bought an entire tank of fish after noticing they weren't being cared for properly and were just slowing dying (malnutritioned and covered in ich). Now they live fat and happy here.Originally posted by supadave View PostThis is just one of the reason why I don't buy fish from LFS anymore. For the most part... If that resturant you speak of is in Baytown...I think I know which one you speak of LOL. I dont dine in, cause their take out is 2million x's better......and they deliver. But I didnt like what I saw when I went in.
Most of the time, when I go to a LFS, I dont even bother with looking at anything else other than fish. I personally hate birds with a passion. If I could gather up every one in the world and nuke em, I would. (joking. I have just had repeatedly bad experiences) But still, I dont think its right to keep an animal in a miserable setting.

The only reason I look past the tanks full of fish, is because they are for sale and usually they are gone in a week or two. I've seen some stores though that cram a ton of fish in a little tank and put an outrageous price on em so they sit for months. I'm like Traci, every time I go to walmart, I wanna buy every fish in there cuz i feel sorry for them. I dont really buy from LFS anymore cuz like Supadave said, they usually arent has hardy as the ones you get from fellow boxers or from group buys.If it ain't wild caught
You ain't doing it right

i used to work for the shop in example 1, those fish diserve better then they are getting, i have talked with the owner several times about it and he just says oh, they are fine, they will be moved to a larger tank asap.
yet they have been like that for over 8 months just withering away to nothing.
and probably will never tolerate being in a community envirenment ever again.
its sad.FRENCH FRY!!!

Re: Fish Cruelty...?
You have to remember that the LFS has a high turn over on fish. Those 100 fish in a 30 gal. Tank don't spend much time In there.Originally posted by davesolo29Now...back to the topic at hand.
