That would make a FINE discus tank.

                Okay so its a 84" x 18" x 24" tall....

Hmm....want to keep fish from a specific region? Do you prefer sand, gravel, or a planted tank?

I like to start with a region of interest first...I think its a challange to create a biotope, even if its a loose biotope. The fish will look they they belong there, and they are just more realistic looking environments.

I have some crazy ideas for background colors too, that is if you want something very unique.

I like the discus idea (only one variant) with just sand, wood and rocks.....or a tropheus colony with sand and rocks.

                      Fahaka puffer.

Okay, okay...I'll stop Puffer Pushing. I guess it'd be important to know what your main goals are.

                      - Are you interested in setting up a Biotope?
                      - Do you want to experience breeding?
                      - If interested in breeding, how much time and work do you want to put into it?
                      - Do you want fish who will interact more with you, or with each other?
                      - Do you want a lot of smaller fish, or a few larger ones?
                      - Do any certain body shapes or colors appeal to you more than others?
                      - How much time do you want to spend on maintenance?

There aren't any wrong answers. Try and figure out what would make you enjoy them the most and then I'm sure we can all help match you with the right species.

I am still trying to decide exactly what I want out of it, I def dont want to rush into anything, my husband is trying to talk me into getting a more rare troph colony, and he is going to be doing a lot of the work so I have to consider what he wants too....the tank is either going to be in the dining room when you first walk in or in the sitting area in the kitchen, either way it has to be something that is okay being around activity....i like the more natural scapes, but i dont really like the planted tanks, it seems like its pretty hard to have a good pretty planted tank without it looking dirty, i like the really clean look. i think i am starting to lean towards more smaller fish, just because i think the activity would be nice to watch and our little girl loves watching the fish swim around....not sure if any of this even helps...lol

I would really love it if you did a Tropheus tank so I can show the yahoos on here what a Troph tank is supposed to look like. LOL. I also really like the idea of a Cyp tank with other small assorted Tangs. I dont think I want to do a tank that involves driftwood or plants. I really love the nice, clean lines that rocks and sand offer. We have a long enough tank to do a really nice Tropheus colony. Hey, Troph People, if you guys can start naming some rare, colorful species, it might help sway her decision.....c'mon....help a brotha out!!
