On impulse we bought some rainbowfish from Fish Ranch last night. We got 5 bosemani and 5 australis. We think we got them in the ratio of 2 males and 3 females for each species. They are being kept with cardinals, rummynose, zebra loaches, catfish and LF ABNs. Any suggestions on the best care for them would be appreciated. The tank is a 90g so I think it's plenty big for what we have.

Rainbow adults are really nice looking fish. Good water quality and balanced diet are key to developing quality rainbows.
Go on line and google these guys there is some good articles out there.
I've had Irians and they develop really nice colors as well.
I'm in the planning process of a new community tank. Might have to take another look at these guys.

Be careful not to feed rainbowfish anything that is large. They have deceptively small mouths. They will appreciate a planted aquarium with plenty of open space.Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

I have a planted tetra tank and in one corner the java moss got so heavy the catfish couldn't get into it. After a few months, I noticed that I had some baby rainbows crusing the tank. Only 3 made it, but in a comunity tank that ain't bad.'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'
