  • Ph in tap water

Here is something I just tested for.... PH in the tap.. So tell me if this matters...

I have a 40 gallon container I have filled for my water change... Trying to get it to room temp and not use the cold water from the tap.. I have used stress coat.. it has sat overnight..

right now the PH is 8.7 - 9 on a Haunna meter at 64 degrees
    the tank is 7.6 @ 74 degrees...

should I try to reduce the PH in the tap water...

one note: I have the same tap water in another container for a saltwater change... I run that thru a RO/DI filter... But I have also added sea salt.... the PH in that container is 8.5 @ 71 degrees.... is the temp affecting the PH?

any info that can inlighten me here on this? Thanks Chuck (Cope)
Had about 900 gallons now I am tired and selling them off...

yes temperature will affect your ph reading on your meter.

Not all meters will do this, but my meter adjusts for temperature.

You need to make sure your meter is calibrated also.

Here is a link to the meter I use.
