the pleco's will literally poop the sand?

As in a poof of sand...
Or an actual poop made of sand??

I wonder if this is bad for them...

The pleco's poop sits on top of the sand which is a good thing cause it's easier to siphon out then trying to get it out of the gravel.

I have Tropheus that sift sand and sometimes poop it out and supposedly it is good for them.

I hadnt heard of anybody having any problems.  But yes the plecos eat (and poop) sand. The poo doesnt string like it normally does. My common pleco used to leave 2ft long strands all around the tank. I changed to sand and he started doing bunchs of little poos, with lots of sand mixed in.

Well...I suppose that small sandy poops are much better than a 2 ft long poop. (:
