  • changing out substrate

I am wanting to change out my substrate on my 110. I have a wet/dry and a aqua clear 110 running. I am planning on pumping 50-60% of the water into a tub, removing my Rainbows and them removing all the substrate, replacing it with new (dolomite). Then running a 3000 gph submersible carbon filer (to clear up and remove the micro particles) then start my pumps back up, and finish up with about 50% water change. What do ya'll think???

what kind of substrate? i would suggest using a garden hose and syphon out the substrate lol. probably would be able to keep 50% in the tank and then replace at the same time. no need for the tub other than maybe hold the old substrate.

Thanks for the advice, but I have already completed the project the way I posted. Everything went good.
