Wow. Every single person that commented, and Ken Hoffman, too, should ALL join HFB.

Kinda makes me mad, actually. If someone published an article like that about dogs, or horses, or something, and spewed all that misinformation and quoted an "expert" who obviously isn't an "expert," people (organizations, etc.) would get angry, if it even got published in the first place. Know what I mean? So why can people publish such erroneous things about keeping fish for Chronicle readers to see?

        Sigh. Oh well.

Yeah when I read the part from the expert I was like what expert would tell you such a thing. At least the fish store that he went to took the time to ask him about his fish and helped him get the right ones.

seriously. You know what sucks, there are people like that at every pet store i've ever visited. Even at the ones I frequent. The people at Petco should get sack wacked every time they tell customers ignorant crap like that....if only I were President...

                Wow. I mean......Wow.

I wish I had a job were I could get paid to ramble on about useless drivel. I had hoped when I started reading it would become a piece about the mistakes he made with his first tank, educating people about what not to do. But, no, it was just senselss stream-of-consciousness rambling. God bless the media.

I agree with MB, this is the kind of thing that pisses me off in regard to any pet. When you get a pet you are responisble for it's well-being. If you aren't willing to put forth the effort to learn how to properly care for a creature, do it a favor and leave it at the store. It's people like this guy who looked at me funny when I spent a few weeks researching and deciding what to put in my tank; I actually had a co-worker ask me "why don't you just go down to Wal-Mart and by some fish like the rest of us?" He got an ear-full.....

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I felt the need to rant.

Ya'll...lighten up a little. That story wasn't written as a 'how-to', it was a light little puff piece. I don't know...maybe I'm wrong, but I found it amusing.

Fair enough....I didn't think about your day to day experiences and how many of the 'unenlightened' you listen to all the time. That would make me a little tense too.
