Well I just bought the xp3s so i wont be ditching them anytime soon but i will add a xp4 or fx5 to the tank some time soon. I will be adding a lot of sand stone rock like the ones in my bow front. I have unlimited supply of it my dad picks it up off the beach every weekend and he always find big nice peices on the same spot of the beach i found the driftwood. I also plan on putting plants but i havent figured out what kind. I want it for the most part to look like a amazon river tank. Hints all the south and central American cichlids.

          I like it. Great job
Don't know how many GPH the XP3's puts out, but the ROT from members on this forum suggest 10X turnover rate per hour. So, in your case you would be doing well moving 2,400 GPH or close to it with canisters depending on bio load and type of fish kept.

I thought it was 10x for a HOB filter and 5x For canister filters? However the xp3s are rated for 350 gph but i plan on getting a another xp3 or a xp4 or a fx5 to put on it with in the next month. thanks for the input though!

Again, if you got room under the stand.....you get filters.

              Also, I see sand....go eheim.

Not at the moment. You got to keep your eyes out for any eheim 2260 or 2262.

Foos on here be picking it up fast when its up for sale.

                  I have 3 x ehiem 2260 and 1 x 2262.

I can't see myself keeping any other type of canister filter (even the eheim pro 3).

The 2260/2262 are built like tanks. Not fish tank but like a military tool of destruction!

Not sure now? Do a search on here and you may find the info. I recall 3-5 turnover for Wet/Dry's-more surface area?

Yeah dude. Don't get them new. Look for used ones. They hold value decently.

                            used 2260 = $200-250

                            used 2262 = $250-300

Depends on if the filters come with all the hose and piping plus media. I paid $225 for my 2262 and $200 for my 2260s all with media.

Hard and fast rules are retarded. It's going to depend on what type and how many fish he wants to keep.

                              Don't believe everything you read.
