  • Thanks to the management at my office building

Some genius decided that A/C wasn't needed on the weekend if nobody was here. My fish were literally cooked as a result. :furious:

We will see... I slowly added some treated cool water and a few seem to be perking up a bit.

I had a similar thing happen, and the tank got into the high-90s for a couple of days. You might be able to bring them back. . .

        Good luck!

What size is the tank? you might think about freezing a 2 liter bottle, or 16 oz. and putting it into the tank before u leave. I have done this many times, it might help to keep your tank from over heating. Good luck

Or the slightly more expensive, but reliable route would be to get a chiller.

After Rita, my power was out for 4 days and the tanks got up into the high 90s... no filtration, nothing. I did a couple partial water changes and didn't feed and the fish came out fine in the 55. The other tanks were a total loss. The only difference was that the 55 had a dozen zebra danios in it that kept the surface of the water moving and must have provided some aeration. Hope yours are ok.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

I am keeping a close eye on it. For certain my favorite fish in the tank is a floater and my brand new cherry shrimp do not look well at all. The rest including several fry seem to be doing remarkably well.

This is a small desktop aquarium and it wouldn't make sense to add a chiller. Normally the A/C will still kick on at 80 degrees even on the weekend. I don't know what happened.

Sorry to hear about this. You might want to consider adding an extra air pump to it and put a fan blowing across the top when you leave for the weekend. The main problem with high temp is there is less oxygen in the water. Anything to help that will help.

I have this same problem where I work. I put a frozen 20oz bottle of water in the tank when I leave on friday. mine is only a 5 gallon tank though.

This tank is cursed. Just got here to do some work and the tank was half empty and the pump wasn't moving any water. The air pump croaked and a siphon started draining the tank. The lone surviving shrimp is now dead.

I feel like a total idiot for not being prepared for this.

I have the air hose looped high above the tank on a tack hoping this will prevent future issues.

Hopefully the guy in the office below me didn't get any water damage.....
