  • Introducing SA knife fish to each other.

I have a large White Ghost Knife (a mottled color morph of The Black Ghost) In a 55 gallon talk with Angels, Ctenopomas, Geos, and catfish. I know that 2 of the same species of SA knifefish will fight until the loser has part of his tail nipped off. I am curious to know if there is a safe way to introduce other SA knifefish, like glass knives, brown ghosts, regular Black Ghosts, or a trumpet knife to the existing White Ghost who is pretty much dominant of the driftwood caves at the back of my tank. I know they will do ok in large groups, but the problem here is that there exists a territorial and established fish in the tank. Any Info will be appreciated. Thanks.

At one time I had 3 black ghots in my tank. they were all introduced at the same time nd were all the same size. I would see them chasing each other but never any damage. You could always try an egg crate divider to start with.

But sometimes they don't make sense

it is best just to keep one but what worked for me is moving things around in the tank befor introducing the new knife then moving things back in a day or two and try getting one about the same size.

I would also suggest reaaranging the scape beefore putting in the new fish. and then turn the lights off for a day or two and keep a close eye on them for the first couple days.
