If your tank is new, it could just be an algae/bacterial bloom. Are you using a gravel vacuum when you do water changes?

Testing the water's always a good idea.  :)

I agree with Mzungu, i think it's a bacterial bloom. It's typically seen during cycling or if there is excessive decay.

Is it completely cycled? Test for Ammonia and Nitrites. They should be zero. If there is any, means that your tank is still cycling, which would explain the cloudiness.

          Nice pirate btw =)

Re: 10 gallon rosy barb tank

80ppm?? That's borderline high... but you should do a partial waterchange anyway.

with NO2 at 2, could either be that it is just starting to cycle or that it is just starting to finish cycling.  Judging from your higher NO3, i'm tempted to guess the latter... but that's just a guess.

Either way, any amount of NO2 means that it's not done cycling. Hence the cloudiness caused by the bacterial bloom. I suggest using biospira if you can get some. It'll complete the cycle in 24-48 hrs.

It is not uncommon for tanks to take that long to completely cycle. Especially if you are using fish to cycle.

You're right, 80 is really high.

When you do a water change, how much water are you replacing?

Okay, can you walk us through a history of the tank?

You said it was set up 2 months ago. What has happened since then? Have you added any other fish besides the rosy barbs? How many times a day do you feed them? How often are you doing water changes? Are you always changing out the filter when you're doing a water change?

ok.  when i set it up i had guppys and stff in it.  but then introduced a clown loach baby that i got and it had the ich.  killed everything in the tank.  I treated the tank for ich and all and was able to save the 2 rosy barbs that were in there.  so after about 4 weeks i bought somemore rosy barbs and this is where we are now.  I feeed 2 times a day and i been doing water change like 5 times cause of the yelllowish water i was tryin to get rid of.  i change out the filter everytime too.
