  • What kind of trophs can I add to my Ilangi colony?

So after pulling a bone head move with some algea remover, my Ilangi colony is down to 12. I am looking to add another group of 15 or so trophs but I do not want crossbreeding. I was hoping if I stayed away from yellow/orange I might be okay but have never kept 2 diff. species of trophs together. If not, does anyone here have any quality Ilangi they are looking to get rid of? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

You can mix. I seen a lot in my days. Some are lower risk mix then others.

I have seen sp. black, sp. red, dubs, polli, and brichardi mixed with mooris and not have cross breeding.

These were also all housed in big tanks, i.e. 6 foot and/or 200+ gallons.

However, there are a number of reported cross breeding cases. Sp. black and sp. red in particular. Sp. red being the worst offenders.

Dubs would be the safest mix. Then polli and brichardi to follow.

Whatever you decide to mix with, keep a close eye on the group. You should be able to tell if any cross breeding is going on.
I ate my fish that died.

I would suggest dubs or Brichardis. I saw one time a male kachese dancing with a female ilangi and that was enough to take out the kachese colony and setup a tank in my brother in-law appartment .
